Yacht Delivery
If you are buying a vessel with our services and need to move her and for whatever reason and cannot move her yourself you have two options. The boat can be sailed from where she is laying or she can be loaded onto a road transporter.
Comparisons.
- Road transport is often the best option as it is swift and the costs are known in advance. Also, it is not dependent on the weather.
- The haulier charges are fixed fee for the journey.
- Small craft often can be moved with a large 4x4 and heavy duty trailer/cradle. Vessels heavier than 2.5 ton will need a specialist haulier with perhaps a special flatbed articulated truck. With Police escorts extremely large yachts can be moved safely right across Europe in a surprisingly short time. Even after ferry and Police escort costs it is often the cheapest way to move your boat
- We can arrange a sea delivery on your behalf, typically with a crew of three excluding the owner. The cost is normally on a per day basis plus time and transportation costs repatriating the crew. The owner must also insure the vessel for the voyage, pay for fuel and harbour dues. Bad weather can seriously upset plans and delays must be paid for even though the crew may be sunbathing! Delivery by sea, other than for short cross channel trips, is usually the most expensive option.
Peter Duck does not operate road delivery, but we will be pleased to introduce you to one or two experienced specialist hauliers whom we have worked with for a number of years.
Peter Duck offers its' brokerage clients a professional sea delivery service by RYA Yachtmaster qualified skippers - owners are welcome to assist with these deliveries.
